I want to share something with you that I am super excited about now that the “secret” is mostly out. Near the end of last year, I decided to get a few things in order to start an in-home bakery business out of my very own kitchen. After making treat after treat and being told time and time again that I should have my own business, I finally broke down and did it. I couldn’t be happier with how things have gone with Treats by Tillie over the past six months. I am pretty consistently busy making treats and have found myself getting more interest from people that I don’t see on a regular basis, which I think is a pretty decent measure of success. I am still very much in a phase of firsts, but have gotten incredible feedback from so many of you so now some of my firsts have turned into tried and true treats.
About a month ago, I was listening to Joy and Claire on their podcast Girls Gone WOD. Girls Gone WOD is a podcast based out of Denver that started when two friends came together to share their love of CrossFit with the world. The particular episode of that day stuck with me because they talked about two things I love: vulnerability and parties. So I got a crazy idea to email them and volunteer desserts for their upcoming 200th Episode Party. They almost immediately took me up on my offer, so I am now the official dessert provider for the GGW 200th Episode Party on April 29th!
I am beside myself with excitement. I see this as a huge growth opportunity while also providing delicious cupcakes, and hopefully smiles, for all the party guests! GGW has a huge following, and while they may not be Jennifer Lawrence famous, they’re definitely very well-known in the CrossFit community locally, regionally, and nationally. In this week’s episode (episode 192), they talked briefly about our cupcake plans! Now everyone that listened to that episode knows that there is a girl named Tillie that will be making some super cool cupcakes for a party in April. I know it’s silly, but I was beside myself with giddiness and excitement after I heard it on the podcast officially. I am meeting with Joy and Claire this Sunday for a cupcake tasting, so this week I will really be bringing my cupcake A-game. I am so completely thrilled about it, but please excuse me if I end up beside myself with nerves and stress close to the end of the week. ☺
I would absolutely not be here without you. Yes, you. Treats by Tillie grew primarily out of the love and support of the community at DeCO, and it is because of you that I am where I am today and have the courage to even step up and offer to take on this project. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you can come to the party and hang out with me and my cupcakes! I would love to have some of my DeCO fam by my side as some new creations make their debut. Here is the link to the Facebook event!
Also, if you have tried something out of the Treats by Tillie kitchen, could you take a few minutes sometime this week and type up a little review for my Facebook page? I know many of you have sampled treats from this year’s Open collection, and I would greatly appreciate your feedback! Not only does it help me get new business and look legit in writing, but it helps me decide what direction to go with future treats based on what you like or don’t. Again, THANK YOU! You guys are really the best. Please come out and party with me on April 29th!
