Join Tillifinney as we follow her fitness journey over six months, starting on April 16th, 2014. The highs, the lows, the goals, the PRs...she shares it all!

And now...Week 23!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I continued my One Rep Max fest this past Sunday, and I’ve got another number on the board! Now you can check in on Tenacious Tillifinney Smith and see that she can do 5 unbroken double unders, deadlift 225#, and power clean 120#. Woo! Finding all these weights is pretty fun. I really enjoy the process and the chance to really refine and practice perfect form. I’m far from perfect, but I think I get better with every lift.

Something that was really fun for me over this past week was diving into a pile of old tshirts. Not literally though, because ouch. I went over to my parents’ house last weekend for a parade and decided to take my last stack of clothes that has been hanging out in my old room. It happened to be a stack of tshirts that a) I had physically but not emotionally outgrown, like my Barenaked Ladies tshirt from 7th grade, or b) that I had purchased too small to begin with and had never worn, like my “Growing up is not an option” tshirt from my trip to the ToysRUs in New York City when I was a sophomore in high school. I’ve been having fun throwing on a throwback tshirt after I get home from school or DeCO in the afternoon, and have yet to be disappointed in a shirt that doesn’t fit! This little process has been a reminder to me of how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. Sometimes the number on the scale is discouraging because I can see and feel a difference in the weight that I have lost, but fitting into all these nostalgic shirts has been the little boost that I needed.

Speaking of coming a long way in a short amount of time, I need to take a second to give a shout out to my mom. On April 16th of 2013, my 25th birthday, she began a journey of her own to lose weight. As of September 6th, 2014, she has met her goal of losing 165 pounds. That’s half of her old body weight. She lost an entire person! How amazing is that? She is such an inspiration, and I am so proud of her. I’m going to get her official before and after photos to share with you sometime soon, because it’s so drastic and amazing. Yay mom!

Have a great week, friends! Do something great today. I will if you will!
